I’ll be joining the ecohydraulics community in Lausanne, Switzerland, this summer for the XVI International Symposium on Ecohydraulics (ISE 2026), hosted by PL-LCH / EPFL at the Swisstech Convention Center from 16—20 August 2026. ISE is the natural meeting point for everyone working at the interface of hydraulics, ecology and river management, and I am very much looking forward to catching up with old collaborators, meeting new ones, and seeing where the field has moved since the last edition.
I will give a talk titled:
The evolution of computational methods in ecohydraulics: from cross-section averaging to immersive agent-based models
This talk will be a walk through where we started, how the toolbox grew through 2d and 3d hydrodraulics into VR-augmented workflows, which is where I think things are heading next as immersive, agent-based representations of organisms move from research curiosity to practical design tool.
If you’ll be in Lausanne and would like to chat about ecohydraulic modelling, Bayesian calibration, fish passage, restoration — or just compare notes — please come find me. See you there!
